This half-day seminar is designed specifically for U.S. Customhouse Brokers who recognize that the prevention of legal difficulties with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, surety companies or with your importing clients requires foresight, planning and the training that this seminar can begin to provide. The course will be divided between how to prevent lawsuits between you and your clients or surety and what steps a Customhouse Broker must take to avoid being in trouble with CBP. The course will be taught by legal counsel experienced in these areas who has assisted Customhouse Brokers in developing compliance programs and has also defended brokers in claims made against brokers by clients and Customs. Specific topics include:

• Broker penalties and liquidated damages: Who is getting them and why? 
• How to avoid problems with the CBP

• Lawsuits against Customhouse Brokers: how and why?

• Top ten things you can do with a Customs lawyer
